I started the first cape yesterday. I’m using an ivory crepe back satin that I found on sale at fabrics.com. I will be using the McCall’s 2810 Medieval Gothic Evening Gown/Cape pattern that I found at sew-n-sewpatterns.mybisi.com. My goal was to have all the bridesmaids wear this cape. However, I have enough fabric to make 3, and I don’t want to buy more fabric. So, I now have a better idea: the flower girl and me are the only ones wearing a cape. I will be making matching shawls for the bridesmaids. I know it’s a bit lazy of me, but I still have to many things to finish. Hopefully, I will be posting a video of the “making of the cape” so you guys can give me tips and tell me what I’m doing wrong. Also, I had a questions for you experienced sewers: With the crepe back satin fabric, is it actually better to sew or use fabric glue?
I really love the dress on this pattern too. I have been considering making it as well. Not for the weeding (or maybe for the party), but it is a beautiful gown. I guess I have a soft spot for the Renaissance era and Medieval times.
Today, I actually have to work pretty hard (I really don’t want to talk about work here), so this post will actually be pretty short. Sometimes I wonder how people get every thing done with all the work they have to do. Sometimes I wonder why we do all this work. I realize that we all have bills and responsibilities, but do we really need to work this hard?
For dinner: frozen pizza! Mike’s gonna love that!
Here’s what the cape should look like… we’ll see!
